Built by a violinist who came back to the instrument

Violin Vault was created by Jason Sherman, an entrepreneur and lifelong musician who wanted a simpler way to find violin music, listen to examples, and practice without juggling a dozen different tools.

Jason's violin story

Jason started playing classical violin at the age of two and originally learned through the Suzuki method. He studied violin at the Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, where his class performed on stage at the Academy of Music with Liza Minnelli.

Growing up, Jason served as concertmaster in school orchestras through elementary, middle, and high school. He also studied at Settlement Music School and Jenkintown Music School, and was a student of Estelle Kerner and Xiao-Fu Zhou.

Over the years, he performed in college productions such as Fiddler on the Roof, and played at weddings, bar mitzvahs, and other events here and there.

Why Violin Vault exists

After a 25-year hiatus, Jason began practicing violin again and quickly found it frustrating to track down sheet music, useful videos, and simple practice tools. The process often meant bouncing between multiple websites, apps, and paid services just to work on one piece.

Violin Vault was built to make that easier: a free, quick-access place to browse repertoire, open music, listen to performances, save favorites, keep practice notes, and use tools like a metronome and tuning reference in one place.

The goal is simple: help returning players, students, teachers, and curious beginners spend less time searching and more time playing.
